I don’t normally do short mid-week posts, but…..
If you read my recent post about a vacation I just enjoyed in Kauai, Hawaii – “Seven Crappy T-Shirts” – you will recall that in it I identified Ms Tulsi Gabbard as being one to watch in the future of US politics.
Well, I am pleased to report that the first part of my prediction has come true. Congresswoman Gabbard was elected yesterday, Democrat representing the 2nd district of Hawaii, crushing her opponent by a sweeping majority.
In so doing, Tulsi has set many firsts:
- She is the first ever Hindu elected to the US House of Representatives. She will apparently swear her Congressional oath over the Bhagavad Gita.
- She is the first ever female combat veteran to serve in the US House of Representatives.
- She is one of the youngest women ever elected to Congress.
Go, Tulsi!
I might one day even change politics for you.
